Scope of Application

Preamble

  1. The code of conduct is not exhaustive, and we reserve the right to moderate your actions at our own discretion, even if there is no explicit rule against it.

  2. The rules are organized similarly to the Swiss law. So you can refer to a rule by a set of numbers like 1.1.1 which would refer to the Treat other people respectfully rule.

  3. The rules are written in a specific format to allow for easy reading and skimming

    1. Every section or rule must be prefixed by its full code, in bold.
    2. Titles of rules are written in italic for easy identification
    3. The category is included at the end of the title in (parenthesis). The category must be underlined.
    4. One or multiple cohorts are mentioned in [ Square Brackets ] to mark which rules can accumulate warnings together.
    5. Encouraged behavior is marked in green, discouraged behavior is marked in red.
    6. Comments are to be formatted as quoted text.
  4. We generally do not moderate on actions that happened outside of our domain, but in severe cases, we reserve the right to take action in order to protect our community.

    1. A good example would be an incident involving a violation of the Swiss Criminal Code.

1. General Rules

These rules are applicable everywhere within the Scope of Application, unless it is explicitly stated otherwise.

1.1 Etiquette

1.1.1 Treat other people respectfully (Category 2) [ Basics / Harassment ]

Everyone is expected to be respectful and polite toward others. Discrimination, bullying, harassment, or insults will not be tolerated.

1.1.2 Unauthorized publication of personal information (Category 2) [ Harassment ]

Everyone is expected to handle personal details, pictures and chat histories with the care and secrecy the other party expects. Doxxing or other unauthorized publication of sensitive information will not be tolerated.

1.1.3 Abusive Behavior (Category 3) [ Harassment ]

Any form of physical or verbal abuse are strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated.

2. Venue / Event Rules

These rules apply specifically to the venue and the events organized by BernFurs, in addition to the general rules.

2.1 Etiquette

2.1.1 Drugs and controlled substances (Category 2) [ Substances ]

The consumption, unless for medical reasons, and distribution of drugs or controlled substances is strictly forbidden. Attendance under strong influence of drugs or controlled substances is also forbidden.

2.1.2 Alcoholic foods and beverages (Category 2) [ Substances ]

The consumption of your own alcoholic foods or beverages is allowed within reason. Excessive consumption and attendance under strong influence is forbidden.

2.1.3 Cleaning up after yourself (Category 1) [ Basics ]

Everyone is expected to clean up after themselves. This means throwing away your trash, recycling your cans and cleaning up any spills or food residue.

2.1.4 Entering Staff-only areas (Category 1) [ Trespassing ]

Areas only meant for staff, such as the Bar, behind the bar or our storage areas are a no-go zone for visitors, unless we explicitly request you to enter the area. **

2.1.5 Roaming out of the venue boundaries (Category 2) [ Trespassing ]

Access to the building is only authorized within the venue’s boundaries, i.e. the entrance, the stairs (and elevator for authorized guests, see 2.2.2), the hallway and the main room. Other parts of the building are belonging to other tenants of the building, and is therefore prohibited of access to guests.

2.2 Property and equipment

2.2.1 Decorative Items (Category 1) [ Vandalism ]

It is forbidden to remove decorative items on walls, this is especially true for safety-related items, fragile items and items that could be used as weaponry. If you wish to take a closer look, ask a staff member to assist you.

2.2.2 Use of the Elevator (Category 1) [ Trespassing ]

Usage of the elevator is only allowed with on-the-spot or previously given staff approval. Other guests are prohibited from using the elevator. Staff members may ask for a name while using the elevator to verify your authorization.

2.3 Content Creation

**2.3.1 “**No Pictures” Badge (Category 1) [ Content Creation / Harassment ]

It is forbidden to take pictures or make recordings of any person wearing a red “No Pictures” lanyard. If multiple people are in frame, make an effort to exclude people that are wearing the lanyard. If that is not possible, you have to blur, cut or otherwise censor them.
